I was a bit too quick when I wrote that Stephen Fry's Making History was the perfect read while in the lest weeks of a thesis. This is not to say that it was a bad book, just that I suppose the moral - do not write boring history dissertations, live life instead - is not the best inspiration for the last mile of a dissertation.
The bookshop had put a note in front of the book saying "Academic humour at its best" and I thus expected something completely different from what I got. There was a lot of references that I suppose most people in an Arts faculty would smile at, but the story was far from academic standard. I do not want to make a spoiler of the book, but the title refers to counter-factual history. Thus the book feel to be more in the genre of the Thursday Next books which I have already mentioned quite a lot.
