Ligature

I have been to the print shop this morning to sign the proof sheet for the printing of my letter paper. Yes, I am of the old fashioned kind that would like my name on my writing paper. This is the fourth time I have been there to discuss my letterhead, but next week it will be ready to pick up. I really look forward to that.

I have now decided on a nice font (Bookman Modern, I think, but cannot find it on the web. It is a font with strong serifs), but I am a bit dissapointed that they would not let me have a ligature of the st in Kristine. Ligature is the linking of letters. Normal fonts will have f and i melt together in fi. Some fonts, however, will have special links in ct, st, ff and others. I have not found a webpage explaining ligatures but this PDF glyf sheet of Minion Pro will give you an example of ligatures.

My new fountain pen

The delights of TypePad makes it now possible to post pictures and this is a picture of the fountain pen that arrived in my mail this morning:

I had wanted a new pen for a while (as my old one had dissappeared), but not desided how much money to spend. This is a Inoxcrom Atlantic and I bought it because it looked nice and did hardly costed anything. The best thing about it however, is that it has a very, very fine nib. It will be a pleasure to write letters now.
